Hoverboard Technologies, a small team of engineers with backgrounds in the Automation Industry based in Mountain View, CA, have created what may become the next big thing in personal transportation; Hoverboard.

The one-wheeled, gyro-stabilized personal electric vehicle gives riders the feeling of hovering, providing a thrilling way to get around.

Hoverboard Technologies’ revolutionary self-balancing system uses ground contacting sonar to float the rider over every undulation on surfaces giving the rider a feeling similar to flight.

The company describes the Hoverboard as a “Tesla, compressed down to scooter size” with emphasis on greater power delivery and unsurpassed range, weight, and power ratio combinations.

With a top speed of 16 miles per hour and a range of about 12 miles, the board is able to take on 25 pound loads and charges up in 1 and 1/2 minutes flat. The Hoverboard’s controls are simple and intutive, users simply tilt forward to accelerate, and tilt back to brake, or to go in the opposite direction.

What makes the hoverboard even more special is the fact that Hoverboard Technologies have ensured that the personal electric vehicle is future proof. The Hoverboard is built with modular components that can be replaced, or upgraded.

The personal electric vehicle is also fully user customisable, allowing owners to service, and enhance customise their boards. The Hoverboard also comes with an accompanying Mobile App Dashboard that that brings full control as well as information on your PEV board right at your fingertips.

Hoverboard is powered by a smart Drive Unit that is the central nervous system of the machine, containing the servomotor, bearings, and position sensors.

Drive Units are also a removable module that is interchangeable making repairs or upgrades simple. The reasoning behind this is that future models could feature varying power levels or operating attributes.

As a personal transportation vehicle, this device  is clearly the logical solution for a current product made with the tech available. As the technology evolves and interest grows in Personal Electric Mobility, there is no doubt that we may be zooming and swooshing around some day in the future.

A similar hovering product without a wheel that simply hovers may still be a few years off yet. However, the evidence is that Hoverboard Technologies has created a sleek product that is just as fun, if not safer!
