NextVR Partners with Live Nation for Virtual Reality Streaming
Live event Virtual Reality streaming company NextVR has announced that it is partnering with Live Nation to bring concert and event livestreaming to its VR platform.
NextVR is already one of the leading platforms for streaming sporting events in Virtual Reality and its partnership with the music management and promotion company is set to increase the platforms coverage.
The latest announcement follows on from NextVR’s partnership with FoxSports in a deal that has seen the two broadcast real time virtual reality soccer, basketball, and golf events. The partnership with Live Nation also makes sense in light of NextVR raising $30.5 million in Series A funding in order to expand its platform for live Virtual Reality broadcasts.
The funding round was successfully backed by many top brands in entertainment and sports in a strategic move that has created new content partnerships for the VR streaming platform and its backers.
NextVR has more than 26 patents granted or pending for the capture, compression, transmission, and display of virtual reality content since the company was founded in 2009.
With the virtual reality space still quite young, NextVR is emerging as one of the frontrunners in broadcasting live events through the medium; but the company is by no means the only one with those ambitions. VRLive also provides Virtual reality video content, while many other publishers such as the New York Times have also started producing content for the medium.

Looking to the future, NextVR’s concert and live event streaming will affect how many people enjoy their favourit bands and artists. In addition to widening the reach of the performers, the platform also promises to make it easier for fans to discover the entertainment they love.

NextVR’s content is only currently available on Samsung’s Gear VR, but the virtual reality pioneer promise to add new platforms to the service in the near future.
